About Our Branham,Abney,Nauert,Hager Lines
I created this site some years ago as a tribute to my and my wife's lineage. Not all info is factual but hopefully it might help others who are researching their family trees. Take this info with a grain of salt. Any additions or corrections are welcome. Enjoy! the photo section these are gems. Hopefully, in time I will get around to ataching the names. Family lore has it that my father [Morris Branham] and my grandfather [Millard F. Abney] left Cumberland County Ky. just one step ahead of the law. Jailed in Burkesville for moonshining. Mom's brother Burnus Abney broke them out of the jail at Burkesville one evening when the sheriff was at supper. They left Kentucky in the back of a wagon pulled by horses hiding under a load of hay. Settling in Indiana they found a much easier way to provide for their families. Morris' first job was working in a candy factory in Indianapolis. This candy factory made maple and vanilla peanut clusters I'm told by my oldest brother Harold Branham. He was the only one of us who was born in Kentucky, on Jan 19, 1927. He was very proud of that. I'm pretty certain that my mom's sister Orpha and her husband John F. White were already here in Indiana. They were simple people who very much lived a very simple life. My Dad [Morris] worked many jobs, sometimes as a meat cutter at Kingans Meatpacking Co. and for awhile as an insurance salesman for Life of Virginia,
and for awhile as an insurance salesman for Life of Virginia, Dad and John White were befriended by a man name Jack Eisenmenger while working at Kingans, Jack was a preacher for the Church of the Firstborn. He Taught them the word of God and baptized a lot of my family. I supposed that for all of these people had done they are better remembered for their devotion to the church and God. I met a man at my work whose name was Carley Watson who had grew up near my family in Kentucky. He knew them very well but the his description of them was not at all like the family I knew. It was an amazing story, but true, and a testimony for God. I regret not being more interested in their personal stories and experiences. I did sit down with my Grandma Abney (Myrtle Willet Cary) in 1968 and listed her siblings, parents, grandparents. She also gave me Grandpa's (Millard F. Abney) info. fortunately this document still exists. (to be continued)
